Hello! How are you all? Happy and healthy I hope and enjoying the summer sunshine.
Our week has been quite bonkers. We've had so little time to just chill out and instead we've been rushing from place to place. Obviously work has played a part in this but coupled with it being end of term and Harry's final week of primary school, it's been a bit of a whirlwind. We've had leavers' assembly, prom (I'm so glad I have a boy, parents of girls beware, it's all cocktail dresses, high heels and make-up!) choir concerts, fish and chip parties ( Harry had the vegetarian option) and there have been a lot of tears at saying goodbye to a school he has been in since he was two years old. He went to playgroup, nursery and primary there so it's a huge change for him. I, on the other hand, am thrilled at not having to do the school run anymore or make packed lunches ever again! Today was our last ever day and it's been very emotional too. There have been many tears.
Anyhoo, here is a little catch up from my favourite Instagram images this week:
^^ A quick trip to the Nature Reserve to take in some fresh air and enjoy all the butterflies buzzing around the buddlejas.
^^ The wildflowers were also in full bloom and the pink scabious were particularly beautiful. Back home I had cut some of my own garden flowers - scabious, buddleja, veronica, vintage stocks and gaura. I popped them into a little cup and sat them on the dining table. The scent was intoxicating.
^^ Blue details. My vintage teapot filled with the stunning flowers from my Coreopsis plant. Such a simple, delicate head but so pretty. And as it's been so hot it was time to get my vintage Mexican dress out of the cupboard. I love the colour along with the bright embroidery.
^^ Yesterday I made some Salted Caramel Fudge as a leaving present for my son's teachers. I'm not a huge fan of presents for teachers and often don't bother as some years I have found the teaching sadly lacking. But when it's been a good year, like this one, I felt it important to make a little something to say thank you. And what says thank you more than fudge?! So I popped some in a gift box and kept a few pieces back for my own personal use!
Have a good week all. Thanks for reading and a big welcome to all new readers of Little Birdie. x
This Week I have been:
Reading the new issue of Lionheart magazine.
Coveting the new collection from Toast. Especially this tunic.
Eating Red Lentil and Beetroot Burgers. Surprisingly delicious as I'm not a fan of beetroot but am trying to like it!
Daydreaming about sitting on a clifftop. Only 4 days until we go on holiday.
Watching the finale of Orange Is the New Black. Please come back soon, I miss you.
