The first days of May

I hope you are having a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend (if you are in the UK!). It's been sunny - whoop! May is definitely one of my favourite months. The temperature is rising, the flowers are blooming and there are lots of gorgeous spring vegetables on the dinner table. Oh and it's Harry's birthday month too. So all in all it's a good 'un.

I've been taking pictures through Instagram a lot more and these are a few of my favourites from the last few days.

We've had a typical BH weekend, a bit of gardening, painting, baking, cooking and joining endless queues in diy stores. I have finally accomplished the task of painting my front door - it's taken three months, haha! But I love the colour, Downpipe by Farrow and Ball. I'm going to plant up my hanging basket with some really hot pink shades as they just look great against that grey colour. These Lewisia are stunning in the pot next to the door, but you can never have too much hot pink in my humble opinion.

I've bought this beautiful vintage plate from Lloyd Loves. As a big old fan of The Smiths, I love the combination of Morrissey and florals! I'm pretty sure he'd approve. Corrin's shop is full of beautiful prints too, and I really adore her new work  Mountains, inspired by the lyrics of Biffy Clyro. It's on my wishlist.

The blossom from the cherry tree has fallen way too quickly. The wind was really strong at times this week, so sometimes it looked like it was snowing in the garden. I know the blossom has to fall, but oh how I miss seeing it when I open the curtains in the morning.

And finally, the sun was streaming through the french windows on Saturday morning. The cat was enjoying basking in the rays and staring at all the birds on the feeder. She's way too old to chase them as she's 15 and suffers with arthritis. But it's nice to see that she still thinks about it!

Have a wonderful week. x
