A Vintage Saturday

Hello. Happy Saturday!

I hope you've all had a nice week. After all the rain this week, it was nice to finally have a bit of sunshine in Leeds today. The boy and I headed into the city centre as we wanted to visit the City Museum.

We started the morning in style, visiting the very lovely vintage store

Birds Yard

. It has three floors of vintage clothing, homewares and accessories. It also has the wonderful

Marvellous Tea Dance Company

who have just recently opened their vintage tearoom on the ground floor. We both had a fantastic time playing 'Guess Who' and eating amazing Carrot Muffins. The cafe was stuffed full of lovely pictures, china and furniture and the ladies who run it were simply delightful. They also have an amazing retro sweet shop where the boy found it impossible to make up his mind! After cake, we headed around the rest of the stores where you can buy some amazing lampshades, bags, dresses and jewellery. A big hello to all the ladies we met this morning there as everyone was so lovely and made us very welcome. We'll be back!

After that we wandered up to the Leeds City Museum to see the 'Silver 70s' exhibition. It finishes this weekend sadly and I wish I'd spotted it was on earlier as it was so fantastic. The room is a bit of an assault on the senses and I wouldn't want to go there with a hangover! As a child of the seventies, it totally took me back to my childhood. There were toys I remember playing with and crockery sets my Mum owned. Rooms were set up with the most fantastic wallpaper which just made me smile. I loved it so much.

We've had a wonderful day. Tomorrow we're just staying in and chilling out. We're a bit tired now! x
