I've had this post sort of playing around in my head for the last couple of days. It's about blogging, and how important I feel it is in my life.

A few years ago I was more of a 'career woman', with a good job in management whilst juggling parenthood. It wasn't easy and I wasn't happy. To cheer myself up I used to buy magazines, books, music, dvds, clothes, furniture. Basically anything I lusted over I went and got for myself. It was kind of a five minute thrill. Don't get me wrong, I didn't go on expensive holidays or drive a fancy car, I wasn't interested in those, but smaller items just to give myself a little bit of happiness to get me through the day at work. I knew it wasn't the right thing for me to do, and I also knew that in order to make myself happier I had to have a change of direction. So I left my job. And that also stopped me being able to buy all the little things to cheer myself up.

I did get myself a two day a week job in a Market Garden, which I still work at now. It suits me well. But I found the rest of my week whilst my son was at school was odd, liberating yes, but also very isolated. That's when I really discovered some truly amazing blogs out there. I never really got it before that time. But I sat at the computer screen staring in awe at some of the beautiful photographs and stories of other people's lives. And that was when it completely hit me, I could do this. It might not be very good at first, but it might also get better! And I think I sort of fell in love with it.

Now I've realised that these blogs are some of the most inspiring things in my life. I don't need to spend any money to make myself happier. Sometimes just staring at a beautiful image can make you go 'wow' and make you smile. Every day reading other people's blogs makes me feel like a better person, a better Mother, a better Wife, simply because they make me so much happier. So that's a massive Thank You to you all for the joy you bring to my world.

The reason I got onto this subject was because I discovered a great new blog recently. And I was so stunned by the gorgeous photography and just general loveliness that I felt I needed to share it with you all. Just Katie is a blog that makes you go wow and I urge you to pay her a little visit! Katie is based in Devon and Dorset and her dream is to be a freelance photographer. She finds inspiration wherever she goes and whoever she meets. She's certainly inspired me.

Thanks Katie for allowing me to use your photographs on Little Birdie. I'm pretty sure your dream will become a reality. I've picked a few of my favourite images, but head on over to Katie's blog and you'll see many more. They are simply stunning. x
