Out and about at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park

We had a day out in the very hot sunshine today. We've had a bit of a crappy week with me having a virus and feeling rotten and then we've had to spend a lot of money repairing the car. But now that i and our little car are feeling a bit better, we headed out to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It's one of my favourite spots to visit, with acres of woodland and lakeland to explore. In amongst these you can find Anthony Gormley, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore statues to admire and enjoy. There are several indoor galleries too and of course a brilliant cafe and giftshop selling Rob Ryan, Orla Kiely and Rice products. It's my kind of shop. First stop was the cafe to have a slice of carrot cake on the terrace!

Then we headed off to see some of the pieces. We've been here several times but this year the major exhibition is by Jaume Plensa an artist who explores the senses. There are some incredible installations indoors and out. I loved these giant heads, but my favourite piece was the steel curtain of letters. You walk from one end of the gallery to the other, gently brushing the letters and they whisper back their poetry. It's just simply magical.

After that we explored the garden and lakeside and visited the Boy's favourite, the Bunny with the Boobies!

We had a fantastic day and made it just back to the car in time before the thunder and lighting started! Hope you've all had a lovely day.
