Faux Leadlight - Beci Orpin style
Hello! A very happy November Monday to you! I can't quite believe that the winter season is fast approaching. But the weather is getting colder and this morning there was a little touch of ice on the car windscreen. It makes perfect sense to me to stay in, fire on and eat lots of cake. Oh, and do a little crafting with the Boy.
I was lucky enough to get a copy of Beci Orpin's book, 'Find and Keep' for my birthday. Top of the list for making was the Faux Leadlight stars for our french windows. Our living room gets the sun in the morning, so it's fantastic to open the curtains and have all these colours streaming in. Beci makes her stars from adhesive vinyl, but offered the alternative of coloured tracing paper. I went for this option and chose dark blue, turquoise, fuchsia, yellow and white papers (I had to order these online as I couldn't find them in any craft shops locally). You trace around the geometric templates in the back of the book and then create combinations of star patterns. Some of the papers overlap creating slightly different colour effects too, and then you just stick them on with some double sided sticky tape. I placed them below my Shanna Murray decal and I love how happy it all looks together and also how the colours change as the sun moves around to the other side of the house. x
