52 Weeks of Happy (50 & 51/52)

Yip, I'm behind again with my happy things. Truth be told, I haven't been feeling particularly inspired. I've felt a bit work, work, work, housework, housework, housework. And throw in my poorly neck and shoulder problem - well I'm in a bit of a grump. But today the sun is shining, and for what feels like the first time in quite a while, I have a day just for me. We all need that sometimes, don't you think?

Anyhoo, here are my happies for this week (and last):

^^ There is a patch of land near my son's school that is entirely devoted to sunflowers. Hundreds of them shining in the morning light, they always bring a smile to my face. I've been meaning to stop the car and photograph them for weeks, but this morning I made the promise to capture the last of them, before they die off. They sum up to me everything this project has been about.

^^ Meet my new babies! These are our ducklings at the Market Garden. Two other ducklings hatched the week before and Mother Duck abandoned the nest leaving the rest of the eggs to go cold. My boss, quick as a flash thrusted five eggs to me and told me to stuff them in my bra!  She had six in hers. (This was whilst we awaited the delivery of an emergency incubator). That was some afternoon at work I can tell you! We even managed to take a school party on a tour of the garden with our bras full of eggs. We were delighted to see after a couple of days in the incubator that we got six babies out of a possible eleven. The picture is of the latest four. Aren't they adorable?

^^ The colours of Autumn leaves. I just love 'em.

^^ Finally, another one of my birthday treasures. As I mentioned in a previous post I'd been given a copy of Beci Orpin's book, 'Find and Keep'. I also had been coveting one of her wall hangings that she made exclusively for Urban Outfitters. So with my birthday money I decided to treat myself to it. I had to wait patiently for it to arrive from the USA and then pay the rather hefty customs charge. But it was so worth it - the colours and the patterns fill me with utter joy.

Hope you have all had a happy week too. Don't forget to enter the giveaway if you haven't already. x
