The Big Birthday and 52 Weeks of Happy (48 & 49/52).
So last week I turned 40. It's been good so far. I don't feel any different really - perhaps I'm in denial about being middle aged.
To celebrate I spent a lovely weekend with my two boys. We indulged in great Indian Vegetarian food at Prashad. We went for cake and a browse at Salts Mill (my favourite place for a bit of retail therapy). And we enjoyed the good weather by going to Bolton Abbey. It's been great. And I've been so lucky with gifts from family and friends. I thought I'd share some of these as my happy things this week.
^^ I was given a gift voucher for Bettys and I was in cake heaven! It's pretty difficult to choose from all the pastries, but I had never had Macaroons before and I was desperate to try them. I got this box of twelve and don't they look pretty? They taste amazing too. I am particularly taken with the Orange Blossom flavour.
^^ Find and Keep by Beci Orpin. I just love this lady - her use of colour, shape and style are just so inspiring. It's full of the best crafts and I have a few ideas that I'm going to try. I was thrilled when I put a picture of this on Instagram and actually got a Happy Birthday comment from Beci herself! That so made my day.
^^ A present that I bought myself (ha!) in Whitby a couple of weeks ago. I spotted this Fox scarf in a shop window and thought I should treat myself to it. And a new Marimekko cup. It's actually a tea cup but as I only drink coffee, it's a coffee cup!
^^ Finally, if you want to listen to some new music, can I recommend the absolutely gorgeous Of Monsters and Men? My husband bought me this and I can't stop listening to it. The track 'From Finner' is gorgeous - with the words 'And we are far from home, but we're so happy' giving me a feeling of utter bliss.
^^ Oh and I should mention the best present! My parents very, very kindly bought me a new Nikon DSLR. It's so fantastic. (But I did get it a couple of months ago as my old camera was a bit under the weather). So a huge thank you to my Mum and Dad.
Have a happy week all. x
