How are you all? Well I hope.
We are back from our annual trip to Scotland. It has been utterly fantastic, particularly as we had nice sunny weather for the majority of our stay. This year my parents very kindly took us away to a log cabin in the middle of the Argyll forest. It had incredible scenery and it was breathtaking to open the bedroom curtains in the morning and watch the mist lifting over the hills. We saw buzzards and deer, but I was disappointed in not sighting any red squirrels. We spent time walking, chatting, eating, playing and swimming in the pool. We also explored the village (where my Dad had designed the pub in 1977 and this was the first time he'd been back!) and the nearby castle.
The only downside to a Scottish holiday is of course the midges who made us retreat indoors on balmy evenings, when I would have preferred to sit outside on the terrace sipping a glass of wine and taking in the view. Ah well, never mind. It was a great place to stay and everyone was so friendly. I'm sure we'll be back soon. x
(I was surprised to find a field of brilliant blue hydrangea outside of our cabin - it was stunning in the early evening light so I took a lot of pictures of it - isn't it beautiful?)
