52 Weeks of Happy (35/52)
I'm sitting here writing this with a glass of Pimms in my hand.
I've just spent a gorgeous afternoon with my Boy at our local nature reserve where the butterfllies and dragonflies were very busy foraging on the wildflowers and hedgerows in the sunshine. We did our first pond dipping session of the summer and netted hundreds of tadpoles. It's been bliss. These are my happies for the week - wildflowers, Pimms, butterflies, dragonflies and sunshine.
My husband has just turned on the news and I've learned the sad news that the author Iain Banks has passed away. I met Iain many years ago when I worked as a bookseller and he was one of the nicest, funniest and most interesting authors I ever had the pleasure of meeting. He signed every one of his (then published) novels for me, each with a personal comment. I will treasure these always. So today I'm raising my glass to Iain Banks, the man who wrote some of the best contemporary fiction in my lifetime. Goodbye Iain, you will be sorely missed. x
