My View // Goldlion Diaries

When Jen asked if I'd like to guest post on her blog on the theme of 'My View', a view local to me that always inspires me, I couldn't stop thinking that it's what's inside my house that inspires and delights me the most on a day-to-day basis.

I've had several periods of time when I couldn't get out and about, when I was at home for weeks or even months without really leaving the house. It sounds awful, being stuck at home for long periods of time, and it did often feel like I was living in a little bubble separate to the rest of the world, but those times where actually quite precious. You slow down, you read, you notice the way the sun casts pretty shadows on the bedroom wall. You've got all that you need to keep your head and heart full of wonder and contentment.

We all (or we all should) fill our homes with colours and objects that we love. Things that are beautiful and which inspire us. In my case it's my books, my music, colourful graphic artwork, vintage finds, textiles and flowers. A lot like many of you I expect? Or maybe you like impossibly high heeled sparkly shoes, hand-crafted quilts and back-copies of Vogue. Or family photographs, sea-shells and surfboards. But whatever you're drawn towards the things we surround ourselves with are so idiosyncratic and they come together in such unique combinations that they just couldn't belong to anyone else other than us.

These are the things that I look at every day, the things I choose to surround myself with. My home, my family, my inspiration, my heart. My view.

And now for my first ever 'movie'. It's a bit rough around the edges but I'm pretty chuffed with it all the same.
