Grey day in Leeds
Today we went to Leeds. The weather was a bit gloomy but we had a great time anyway. Harry is studying the Romans next half-term so we went to have a look round the Roman exhibits in Leeds City Museum. We also went into the Art Gallery and had a look at the Damien Hirst exhibition. Harry was pretty fascinated by the lamb in formaldehyde. We went to the Tiled Hall cafe, within the Art Gallery as it's one of our favourite cafes in the City. I had the Dandelion and Burdock cake which was out of this world!
At the Museum they had a special exhibition on all about the Carnivals of Leeds. There were some beautiful costumes from the West Indian Carnival and a chance to have a shot on the steel pans. I had a go too! What a beautiful sound, i could really enjoy playing those. They are almost hypnotic.
I couldn't resist taking the photo of the sign for the Ladyboys. It always makes me giggle when they come to Leeds every Autumn.
Then we went home to read our new book, Horrible Histories, The Rotten Romans.
Hope you've all had a great day too.
