Oh this feels like an amazing find! I got an email from Greenman today highlighting their unsigned acts competition. There are six bands through to the final on Thursday night competing for a main stage performance at Greenman in August. I happened to notice that one band was from Leeds, and swiftly googled them. Hunting Bears are a five piece band who cite their influences as Joanna Newsom, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell and Bjork, so pretty eclectic! They play some amazing instruments from the harp, ukelele, double bass and the Bulgarian tamboura. They all do vocals together. They filmed this gorgeous piece in Leeds Town Hall up in the clock tower and had to hump all their gear up hundreds of stairs! I think this is a beautiful song and i'm keeping my fingers crossed for them to win Thursday night so i can see them next month.
Have a listen to this, i'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.
